What's involved in a same day dental crown visit?
At Ohakune Dental, Dr Jane Sherrit can provide a convenient same-day crown treatment, designed to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
First, Dr Jane will carefully prepare your tooth by removing any decay and shaping it to provide the ideal foundation for your new crown.
Instead of using traditional impressions, we use advanced digital scanning technology to create highly accurate images of your tooth. These digital images allow us to design your custom crown right here in the practice, ensuring it fits comfortably and blends naturally with your surrounding teeth.
Your crown is then created from a high-quality ceramic block using our advanced in-house technology. The crown can be made in as little as 30 minutes, meaning you don't need to wait days or weeks for a dental laboratory.
Once your crown is ready, Dr Jane will carefully bond it into place, checking the fit, shape and appearance to ensure you leave with a comfortable, natural-looking result.
The entire process can often be completed in just one appointment, so you can walk out of Ohakune Dental with a strong, functional and beautiful new smile in around two hours.
How Long Do Dental Crowns Last?
With the right care, a dental crown can provide many years of protection and function. The lifespan of a crown can vary depending on factors such as the material used, your oral hygiene, your bite and everyday habits. On average, a dental crown can last around 5 to 15 years, and often longer with good care.
